I can add two more reasons. 1) When you grow up and your kids play instruments and their band teacher has a solo night required for their grade and an accompianist is required, you can play with them instead of having to hire someone to play with your child. 2) When you go on your church mission and you’re in a small congregation where no one knows how to play the piano, you’ll be happy if you can help them out and be the congregation pianist (and they’ll love you!)
