I teach piano to the students at Murrieta Springs Adventist Christian Academy. I also teach a group piano lesson to my students once a month. The community provided by classmates working side by side to learn the piano is a significant source of motivation for good practicing at home. If you are interested in a great private school with family atmosphere, come check us out!
I have a degree in elementary education. I’m currently taking piano lessons myself under a master teacher. I am a pianist with a passion for teaching piano to children. I am a member of the Music Teachers National Piano Guild.
The fact that I am currently a mom with 3 children taking piano lessons makes me a very relevant teacher. I come to your child fresh from my home piano bench where I try every trick in the trade to get my kids to practice, and know the value of well-planned events and motivational tools by the teacher to inspire kids to practice.
As a teacher, my first goal is to help every student to sound talented! I start with good technique: the hand relaxed, the fingers curved and the tone warm. The second goal is to inspire your child to practice well at home. The third goal is to train the student to be confident and eager to share. At the group lesson, all students take a turn performing their best piece as well as participating music learning games. The group class provides students with the real-life reward for practice and hard work on the piano - an audience!

The Curriculum:
Reading Keyboard Method is my favorite method for teaching students to sight-read. Here, the musical staff is not a foreign language, but a map. In the range of keys children learn first, there are three pairs of white keys with no black between. In minutes, students can sight-read their first song!
Suzuki I teach this method because of its strong emphasis on ear training. A well-developed ear is vital to musicality.
Music Theory Understanding chords is the basis for hymn improvisation, transposing, composing, memorizing and performing. It is very important! Students are taught music theory. When they have received reached sufficient proficiency, they are prepared for the yearly California Certificate of Merit test.
Sacred Music Students are taught good church music and trained to share in church.
National Piano Guild Students in this program prepare 10 memorized pieces every year and they play them for an adjudicator. The National Piano Guild gives them a very positive assessment of their playing, a letter grade, a certificate, and a pin.
